This is really important information for everyone, not just beginners. I think the interface should be a little more upfront with the buy orders vs sell orders. When in doubt, make sure to take that extra second when you're at the AH.
"So thought it would be a good idea to warn new players of potential action house traps, learn from the mistakes I made.
Being that there is no vendor to sell items to and only a salvage option, there is no place else to turn for quick silver but the AH. Now at the AH players can set up "buy orders" for any item in the game they are looking for and another player and "fill" that order. The problem with this is people will make buy orders for expensive items for 1 silver and if you are a fast clicker(like myself) you might click "sell" instead of "create new order" when listing on the AH.
I love the feature of this and I made a ton of silver selling relics that were priced fairly well. But in the beginner zones rich players go to every starting zone and set up buy orders for really cheap prices and you as a beginner don't know better and just sell it. Sure its mostly for low tier items like, rock, wood & ore. What I didn't know is t1 rock and wood are always need later on. You cannot make higher level rocks and things without t1, mostly rock is this case because there are is no "rare" or "epic" rock so you need it all starting from t1. T1 wood seems most important for structures as you don't need to use t1 wood to make into t2 wood planks. So hold on to everything(except rabbit fur) because you will use later.
I did end up using this tactic to my advantage later on and I think we should to, I set up buy orders for rock and wood that I needed for my builds, but I tried not to be a complete scum bag and ask for only 1 silver, I would start a littler higher say maybe 3 silver. Lol just playing, I would ask like 20 silver when in reality at the big AH its selling closer to 200s. Its actually better to set a higher paying buy order price because if you are the highest paying buyer, by default your order is the one that will be offered when players go to create a AH listing.
After the newcomers wise up to the AH they will learn from their mistake, but will need a lot of building material for our guild island."
